Country, Nature & Belonging
We respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn and play. We honour their ongoing connection to Country and embed respect for Aboriginal culture, knowledge and perspectives in our everyday practice. Children develop an understanding of caring for Country, including the land, animals and one another. Through nature play and time spent in our local environment, children build a connection with the natural world and a strong sense of place and belonging.
Children as Capable Learners
At Warrandyte Kindergarten, we create a warm and welcoming environment where every child and family feels they belong. Influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach, we view the environment as the "third teacher", thoughtfully creating spaces with natural and open-ended materials that invite curiosity, creativity, problem solving, collaboration and exploration. Guided by the Early Years Learning Frameworks, we create play-based programs that recognise children as capable and confident learners, building on their individual strengths, ideas, interests and experiences. Children are encouraged to make choices, share their thinking, explore their ideas and take an active role in their learning.

We believe children learn best through strong, respectful relationships. Through warm and responsive interactions, educators encourage children's thinking, communication and growing understanding of the world around them. We value and celebrate the diversity of our community and are committed to ensuring every child feels safe, included and valued. We work in partnership with families, recognising their knowledge of their child and building meaningful connections between home and kindergarten.
